Since 1985 Indian Merchants' Chamber (IMC) provides excellent services of Institutional Arbitration to all the Business Community who are interested in getting their commercial disputes resolved expeditiously and economically.

Arbitration Rules
For domestic arbitration - Rules are based on the Arbitraiton and Conciliation Act, 1996 with such additions as are supplementary and are permissible.

For Internation Commercial Arbitration - Rules are basedon UNCITRAL Rules fo Arbitration.

The Rules of Arbitration of IMC also provide for Fast Track Arbitration and the parties may opt for Fast Track Arbitration for expeditious disposal of their cases within a fixed time frame.

Rules of IMC Court of Arbitration can be furnished to any interested party on request.

Panel of Arbitrators
Panel of Arbitrators consists of highly respected and experienced individuals with integrity. There are many eminent Retired Judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts and other eminent professionals such as Counsels, Advocates and Solicitors, Chartered Accountants, Architects, Engineers as well as very well known Businessmen and Industrialists with very high integrity and respect in the society.

Cases Involving claims ranging from less than Rs.5 lacs to more than Rs.100 million have been disposed of by Arbitrators on our Panel expeditiously.

What should be done to avail of the services of Institutional Arbitration provided by IMC

Any party desirious of resolving its commercial disputes expeditioulsy and econimically may avail of the services of Institutional Arbitration and / or Conciliatin as the case may be, provided by IMC by inserting any one of the following two clauses in all their commercial contracts, invoices etc.

“All disputes or differences whatsoever arising between the parties out of or relating to this contract or construction, meaning, scope, implementation, operation or effect of this contract or the validity or the breach thereof shall be referred to arbitration in accordance with the Rules of Arbitration of the Indian Merchants’ Chamber and the award made in pursuance thereof shall be final and binding on the parties.”

OR

"Any dispute or difference whatsoever arising between the parties out of or relating to this contract or construction, meaning, scope, implementation, operation or effect of this contract or the validity or the breach thereof, shall be referred to Conciliation for amicable settlement in accordance with the Rules of Conciliation of the Indian Merchants' Chamber and if not satisfactorily resolved in conciliation shall be referred to Arbitration in accordance with the Rules of Arbitration of the Indian Merchants' Chamber and the award made in pursuance thereof shall be final and binding on the parties."



Also provides institution facilities for dispute resoluiton by Conciliation based on Rules of Conciliation of IMC.
