Event Description :

The Armed Forces has traditionally been a male bastion the world over which has only slowly been opening its doors to women, particularly so in our co...untry. Women, however, have been an integral part of the medical fraternity of the Defence Services for years and have witnessed its progress in this area.

The senior-most woman officer in the Indian Navy today, Surg Rear Admiral Sheila Mathai, Nao Sena Medal, Vishisht Seva Medal is a well-known Paediatrician and Neonatologist by profession and a senior Naval officer with vast experience in administration. She has trodden a long road to reach her present position as the Command Medical Officer, Western Naval Command.

She will share her journey with us and dwells on some of the unique experiences and opportunities in the Armed Forces. She also shares her thoughts on the challenges that working women, particularly in the Armed Forces, face and how they can overcome them. Her inspirational and insightful story will motivate many young women to don the uniform and proudly serve the nation.
